Royal Elk is created by Krista King, a fine art photography project rooted in wildlife and wild places of the Pacific Northwest.
I’m drawn to moments that feel steady and unspoken — wildlife moving through the trees, weather shaping the land, places worn by time and water.
The name Royal Elk comes from a deep respect for the elk themselves — majestic in presence, quiet in strength, and enduring in the way they move through the landscape, shaped by the land rather than set apart from it.
Working in black and white helps me focus on what matters most: form, texture, light, and mood. Stripping things back leaves space for a place to be felt, not explained.
Royal Elk is a quiet record of where I’ve been and the wild places that continue to shape me.
